Shipping Policy

Shipping Information

Here are a few basic rules and recommendations concerning our shipping:

It is not required, however we recommend shipping to a business address when possible. Delivery is guaranteed before closing time of the business, or end of driver’s day if delivering to a residence (this could be as late as 8:00 PM in some cases!). Please remember…the delivery commitment does not start when the order is placed. It begins when we hand your package to the carrier. We try to honor all shipping requests, but choosing Next Day Delivery does not always mean you will get the package the day following the order date. Sometimes due to extenuating circumstances we have to delay shipment. We will try to adhere to the following schedule as much as possible:

Next Day Delivery - All orders should be placed Monday – Thursday prior to 12:00 pm CST.

2nd Day Delivery - All orders should be placed Monday – Wednesday prior to 12:00 pm CST.

Saturday delivery - you must select NEXT Day Delivery as your shipping method. A $15.00 fee will be added to the quoted next day charge. (please indicate if you need a SATURDAY delivery in the Order Note box on the order summary section).  Saturday delivery is not available to all areas.  If Saturday delivery is not an option for your area we will call or email to notify.

Orders received after 12:00 pm CST will be processed the next business day.

·        Please note we cannot ship on Friday for delivery on Monday.

·        Your order will ship from us frozen. Some thawing is normal and should be expected during shipping. During the summer months, we recommend shipping via Next Day Delivery to minimize thawing. It is safe to refreeze when you receive your order.

·       Please note that neither the shipping company nor Cajun Specialty Meats, Inc. can accept responsibility for delays due to weather.

·       Leave a note for the carrier, or have your order delivered to a business address. We instruct the carriers to leave the package at the door if no one is home, but it is at the driver's discretion whether or not to leave the package. If the driver does not leave the package, another attempt to deliver will be made the following day, and depending on the time of year, the contents of the package may no longer be good. The best way to avoid this problem is to have someone sign for the package at delivery. Short of having someone stay home all day waiting on the delivery, the best way to assure the package is delivered is to ship to either a business address or one of the carriers stores such as a UPS store which will guarantee that someone is available to sign for the package. It also guarantees that the package will be delivered before the business closes for the day. Home delivery may be as late as 8 PM!

·       Inform recipient they are receiving a package. If you are sending our products as a gift, please inform the recipient to be on the lookout for a package. We have had instances that the carrier left the package on the front porch and the recipient didn't discover it until a week later. Unfortunately neither Cajun Specialty Meats, nor the carriers can take responsibility for this as the package was delivered as requested.

Shipping Cost

·        Please note that a shipping container charge of $8.00 is automatically added to all orders. The container is a sturdy reusable styrofoam cooler packed with gel ice.

·        All shipping and handling fees are based on the total weight of the package and the location to which the package is being shipped.

·        Fill up the ice chest to get the most for your shipping dollar.

·        The quote we give for shipping and handling is an estimate and is valid for most orders. However, occasionally there may be other fees involved. For example with very large orders, the stated shipping and handling fees may be inadequate, and they may require a larger shipping ice chest, in which case, we reserve the right to modify the shipping and handling fees.

·        We will contact you before shipping if there are significant changes to the quoted price.

  •  Incorrect Addresses - Unfortunately neither Cajun Specialty Meats, nor the carriers can take responsibility for shipping delays caused by incorrect addresses. Also, the carrier charges $10 for address corrections, which must be passed on to the customer, so please be precise and accurate when typing in addresses.

Packaging

Because our products are perishable food items, their condition upon arrival is of the utmost importance. Our products are individually vacuum packed and quick-frozen. All perishable orders are shipped in a reusable insulated cooler, packed with gel ice. The insulated cooler is then put into a corrugated box for further insulation and protection. Some thawing during shipping is normal and should be expected. Also some product may be shipped fresh. As long as the product is above 41 F, it is fine to refreeze.

Order Notes

Please specify the date you would like to receive the package in this section.  If you do not request a delivery date, we will assume you are requesting us to ship as soon as we are able to fill the order. Please refer to the shipping schedule above when requesting delivery dates.

You can also use this space to write messages to the recipient of the package.
